Life 365 | Week 6

Monday, February 1, 2010
feb1Joey finally broke his record in one of the Tennis Training Games! He was so happy! (And on Sunday he actually broke it again – so the above photo is of his latest score!)

I was so excited today – because I FINALLY got my computer back. It has seriously been such a frustration and causing me so much stress to not have it. This week I’m going to have to spend most of my time getting caught up and back on track with my design stuff! So happy to have my computer back – I really don’t survive very well without it!

Tuesday, February 2, 2010
feb2Beth and I did some grocery shopping today and came home with some special treats. JJ and Beth got some valentine cookies, fruit snacks, and applesauce when JJ got home from school. Happy Groundhog Day!

Wednesday, February 3, 2010
feb3Beth didn’t get to go to school today. I was up most of the night with her. She was coughing so hard that she threw up and she just couldn’t breathe well. We propped her up on the couch and I stayed right by her all night. I worked on my computer most of the night and at about 6am she finally went to sleep, so I slept right by the couch by her. After getting JJ off to school, I crashed for a few more hours before finally getting up and starting my day. Beth just watched movies and slept most of the day and I worked on my computer. The only time I got my cheerful Beth was when she took a bubble bath. I can tell its going to be another long night…

Thursday, February 4, 2010
feb4Beth had another hard night, but not as bad as the night before. I sent JJ off to school and slept a little bit longer and woke up to a horrible phone call. JJ had a seizure at school. Beth and I rushed out the door and arrived at the school office where paramedics were with JJ. He hasn’t had a febrile seizure in almost 2 years and I had hoped he had outgrown it. I felt so bad that I didn’t realize he was sick too. I brought him home and he slept for about 1 1/2 hours before we took him to his pediatrician. Everything checked out just fine and we brought him home. JJ just has a very low tolerance for fevers. I spent the rest of the day with my sick kids – trying to keep them comfortable. Watching JJ have a seizure is just so scary and it was honestly kind of nice that I didn’t have to watch it this time, although I feel badly for his teachers. I’m sure it was really scary for them too. I just want my kids to get better!

Friday, February 5, 2010
feb5We spent the day playing and watching movies. It was another hard night, but I think its getting better. The kids were much much more active today and that’s always a sign that they are working towards getting better. The kids spent some time in the bathtub, trying to keep their fevers from rising. And unfortunately, I think I’m getting it too – sore throat, aching, and headache for most of the day for me too. I worked a lot on the computer as well. I think I’m actually making some headway into catching up! Joey did his podcast and stayed at Pete’s tonight for his meetings with Samaritan tomorrow.

Saturday, February 6, 2010
feb6The kids seem to be getting better, besides some pretty awful coughs, whereas I just keep feeling worse. Joey was gone all day in Salt Lake City, and the kids were amazingly good for me today. They hung out in the living room and watched movies and played with their Leapster 2’s, while I slept and worked on the computer from the couch. I was so glad to see Joey when he got home, so I could hang out in bed. I feel so awful.

Today, 12 years ago, Joey and I went on our first date. I still love him so very much!

Sunday, February 7, 2010
feb7A pretty miserable day today. I was so sick that I couldn’t even get out of bed this morning until about 1:00pm. The kids were doing better, but still sick. Joey was so good to take care of them so I could get more rest. At 4:00 he left to go to the Casetta’s for the Super Bowl game, while the kids and I watched the game from here. It was a good game, but a very disappointing loss for our Colts. We really wanted to see them win. Our hearts hurt tonight, but we are still proud of their great year and we can’t wait until the next season starts! True Colts Fans live here!

Life 365 | Week 2

Time to get back to reality. The kids went back to school today and then we started doing cleaning/organizing of their rooms. We cleared out some shelves and spots for their new toys!

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

My computer has been really sluggish lately – so I wiped the hard drive clean and started reinstalling everything and backing everything up. I almost had it ready when my internal hard drive completely died on me. So we took it to Simply Mac to have a new hard drive installed. The good news is that my original 250gb hd is going to be replaced with a internal 500gb hard drive – so I’m going to have space! It will be great. My great hubby also purchased me a 1TB Time Capsule – so I will have a great backup system now when I get my computer back….

We did some major grocery shopping today at Costco/Walmart. It was really time to replenish our food storage. After picking up Beth from school I started cleaning out my food closet and Beth made her a little house with all the food. It was too cute!

Thursday, January 7, 2010
jan7
Just another day of organizing and relaxing. I love to see the kids all cuddled up with their Daddy at the end of the day!

Friday, January 8, 2010
jan8
I still don’t have my computer back. Simply Mac apparently had a lot of other repairs to do before they get to mine – so I’ve been using Joey’s little notebook to browse the internet – answer emails – and play. I can’t do much else and its really frustrating, but at least Facebook has kept me from going insane without my computer!

Saturday, January 9, 2010
jan9
We finally got around to putting away our Christmas Decorations today. The kids and I were pretty sad, but it was just time. The rest of the day we just hung out together as a family at home.

Sunday, January 10, 2010
jan10
It has been so much fun to watch the kids enjoy the Wii. They have been doing A LOT of bowling and its been fun to see their little moves – JJ’s jumps and Beth’s leg crossing when they “throw” the bowling ball. So much fun!

Project 365 | Week 41

I think the Crockpot is one of life’s greatest inventions. I really need to use mine more. I stuck some chicken, some pinapple and some teriyaki sauce in the crockpot in the morning and it cooked all day. All I had to do was cook up some rice to go with it and dinner was done for today. Why can’t I remember to do this more – it really made my day so much easier and dinner was so good! Today was my first day without crutches. The ankle is still weak and I am still using the aircast, but at least I am getting around better!

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

I was able to go to the Relief Society Enrichment tonight and it really felt good to get out of the house. It was craft night and I was able to make these adorable Family Home Evening Dice. One dice included the names of my family members (2 are blank so I can add to them as my family grows) and the other dice included all the components of a Family Home Evening (Lesson, Activity, Song, Prayer, Treat). You roll each dice to see which family member is going to do what thing for FHE. I thought it was a really cute idea. I think we are going to stick with me and Joey doing lessons for awhile, but the kids can do some of the other things for it!

Beth got to go on a field trip for school today. They went over to the fire station and got to talk to the firemen and see inside the fire station, the fire trucks, an ambulance, and even got to sit in an emergency helicopter! The firemen gave them little fire hats and cotton candy! Beth was so excited to get to wear her Center Stage shirt and jacket for the first time too!

Thursday, October 8, 2009
oct8
Fall is in the air and its definitely time to start bringing out the jackets. It was pretty cold this morning and JJ got all snuggled up in his new jacket as we waited for his school bus!

Friday, October 9, 2009
oct9
Beth’s little tradition after school is to have lunch (pretty much always a ham and cheese sandwich) and get to eat while watching a couple of her shows. But she is so funny because I think her favorite thing to watch is COMMERCIALS. Joey thinks maybe she is going to go into advertising or something because she just gets a kick out of commercials and doesn’t like when we fast forward through them (thank goodness for TiVo). Silly girl!

Saturday, October 10, 2009
oct10
Joey spent the whole day in Salt Lake City in some meetings so we just had a casual day at home. The kids played all day and I spend most of the day on my laptop doing the part of designing that I don’t particularly like – the advertising and loading new products into my stores. It’s time consuming and it took all day but I finally got it all caught up.

Sunday, October 11, 2009
oct11
The Colts played the Sunday Night Game and it was fun to see them win and do such a good job. I really love being able to watch football with Joey and even though we watch football really different – I’m the vocal one and Joey is very quiet – it’s still a wonderful thing we get to do together!

The kids really love playing on the computer. I guess it totally makes sense – Joey and I are always on our computers. JJ hadn’t played on StarFall at home for awhile, so the kids got to play for awhile.

I had seen this idea on several of the blogs I read. You take all the snacks for your kids for the day and you put them in the slots of a muffin tin. And then when the kids want a snack they go to their tin. I need to get new muffin tins for them, but they LOVED this idea. I think I will get some new ones for them and maybe decorate them or something. What a fun thing and I think this will be perfect this summer!

I was able to go to another wonderful Scrap Girls Luncheon today. I really love these excursions. They totally rejuvenate me. Beth got to come with me today and she was so good! It was kind of bitter-sweet though as Anna is moving to Texas and she won’t be able to come to our luncheons anymore. It was really good to visit with her and I hope things go so well for her! We’ll miss her!

I gave the kids some goldfish crackers and sent them outside to play. A little while later, JJ came in and said, “Mom, I shared my goldfish with some ants, is that ok?” and then “The ants were looking for food so I crumbled up the goldfish for them.”

Last night, my parents and my brother, Lane arrived. We haven’t had them come and stay with us in about a year, so it was a real treat. I can’t believe my little brother is 16 and so involved in everything. My parents came because Lane got to go to a leadership conference (HOBY) up here in Aspen Grove for the rest of the week. So they took him there this morning and then they hung out with me and Beth for the rest of the day. We did some errands while Beth was at school and then Joey took a half day off to watch the kits, while I, my parents, and Cody & Becki got to go do a session in the new Draper Temple. We went out to dinner at Sizzlers after and it was really fun to visit and be together.

Beth has been so excited to have her Grandma here. She really misses not living right next door to her Grandparents. Grandpa took a day-trip to Wyoming today on his friend Max’s truck, Joey was at work, JJ was at school, and so after Grandma went to her Aunt’s Funeral (Margaret Mathews), we had her all to ourselves. We hung out at home and did a few errands.

Saturday, May 9, 2009
may9
We spent some time at the playground today. It’s so fun to see my kids enjoy themselves and to see them interact with each other. Beth’s favorite thing is the swings and she is constantly saying, “Push me, high to the sky!” JJ loves the slides the best and he loves to have you watch him play!

After church today, we were able to have lunch with my parents and brother. It’s been awhile since I spent Mother’s Day actually with my Mom. It has been so fun to have them staying here this week. My mom is an amazing woman who always gives her all to everything she does. She’s a great example of faith and service. One of the most amazing things about my mom is that no matter what calling she has in the church – she truly goes above and beyond for it. As a Young Woman leader, as a Sunday School Teacher, as a Primary music leader, etc….she is always prepared and willing to do anything and everything for those she teaches. It’s really amazing to me. My mom has always supported me in whatever I wanted to do and I am so grateful to her for bringing me up in the church and for always being there for me. THANK YOU MOM and Happy Mother’s Day!

Project 365 | Week 11

We had an amazing opportunity today to go to the Draper Utah LDS Temple Open House. The temple is being dedicated next week, so it was our last chance to be able to walk through it. Unfortunately Joey wasn’t able to go with us, but I took the kids and I am so glad I did it. It was a snowy day so I wasn’t able to get a good picture of the temple (so I took a picture from the internet), but we were able to get a picture of us in the church (next to the temple) with a picture of the Savior. There was a lot of waiting time since there was so many people there, but the kids did pretty well, although by the time we took a photo, Beth was done and wouldn’t look at the camera. I hope the kids will remember the special feeling that we had in the Temple. The Spirit was truly there and I needed that feeling of peace in my life right now.

My Valentine’s Day present for Joey finally arrived today. We are big fans of the Indianapolis Colts and they have a new stadium. I was able to purchase a brick at the stadium with our names on it for Joey and of course we get a brick to display at home. I would really like to be able to take Joey to a game at the Colts Stadium someday and we’ll have to drop by our brick!

I started getting things together for our trip today and the pile of stuff that needs to go with us is already pretty big! I really need to learn to pack lighter! I finalized my list of attractions that I want to hit at the amusement parks and got quite a lot done. The kids helped for awhile but ended up watching a little tv before I finished. I have been doing better lately with less tv time for the kids, but we still need to work on finding better activities to keep them busy.

About 2 am, Beth came crying into our room saying that her head hurt. She had a 103 degree fever (which she has never had that high)! So of course she slept with us for the rest of the night and felt awful all day. My poor little girl!

Friday, March 13, 2009
mar13
So of course I had an awful night and Beth’s illness is now mine too. Headache, body aches, pain, congestion, and did I mention pain? Can’t wait for all of this to pass. Beth seems to be a lot better, so hopefully it’s only a 1-2 day thing. While Beth and I were taking a late nap, JJ created his own little workstation at the table. It was adorable!

mar14
I caught this adorable little scene today. Beth and Joey were playing with her ponies and it was just so precious to see their daddy-daughter relationship. Joey also got on his laptop and found some sites where we could figure out all the ponies names! So much fun for Beth!

Sunday, March 15, 2009
mar15
So I am finally doing a lot better and although I still have a bit of a cough at least the pain is gone. But of course JJ was sick today. Thank goodness the sickness seems to not last long so hopefully we’ll get through this! Only one week until we leave for California!

Project 365 | Week 8

feb16
The kids were feeling pretty shut in and JJ was feeling a little better, so we took an outing to Wal-Mart. Grandpa and Grandma Sorensen had sent some money for JJ’s birthday and so he finally got to pick out some presents. He was able to get a toy computer and some Spiderman slippers. He even used a little of his money and bought his sister some little horse toys. JJ was so excited to have money and get some new things. He also paid his tithing for the FIRST TIME! So that’s wonderful too!

JJ wants to thank Grandpa and Grandma Sorensen for the card and his new fun stuff and Grandpa and Grandma Smith for their card. He LOVES getting mail and loved to see his name on the envelopes. Thank you!

He wrote this himself (If you can’t read it – it says – Thank you Love, JJ)

It snowed again! JJ stayed home from school – since he still wasn’t feeling good – and I loved seeing their faces as they watched the snow come down. They are still so fascinated and excited about the snow. It was a very laid-back kind of day. We watched some movies. I tried to get some design work done. The kids played together pretty well today and that’s always nice to see!

feb18
While JJ was in school today, I introduced one of my favorite stories to Beth. I grew up reading the Anne of Green Gables series and I still love it. I really enjoy the movies as well. Beth is a little young and the movies are VERY LONG…so we only made it about an hour into the first movie, but I think she enjoyed what she could understand. I hope to read her the books in a couple of years. These books meant a lot to me as a young girl and I hope I can carry on the love of books and stories to my children.

feb19
JJ and Beth both woke up at 6:30 am this morning. I am not sure what was going on – but they wouldn’t go back to sleep! That made for a real exhausting day today. They both had school and I worked all day on a new kit that I need to be done this weekend. I hope I can get it done. I was able to make a good dinner tonight – Stuffed Shells. I combined a couple of recipes and it turned out pretty good.

Friday, February 20, 2009
feb20
The kids were both sick AGAIN. But getting the mail brightened up the day. Grandpa and Grandma Smith sent some awesome stickers for the kids. Beth got princess stickers and JJ got Spiderman stickers. PERFECT! They had fun creating their paper masterpieces with the stickers. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma – you made their day!

feb21
I have so much to do in the next 3 weeks – kit deadlines, challenges, chats, cleaning, packing and getting ready for our California vacation! Yikes! How am I going to get it all done! I see much more sleepless nights in my future. I made progress today though. Joey was sick, the kids were sick…..so I spent ALL DAY finishing up a new kit! I’m so excited about this kit series – HeroeZ and PlaymateZ. I guess it is because my kids are at a time in their life that movie characters are what they play and dream about. So I’m planning lots of Disney-inspired stuff and other fun characters – super heroes, princesses, etc. The first kit in the series is inspired by A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh and Friends. I’m really excited about how it turned out and I can’t wait to see the reactions from the Digital Scrapbook Community – I hope they like it as much as I do.

(So you blog readers get a sneak preview now of my new kit – let me know what you think!)

feb22
I was hoping that we were all on the mend and that I wouldn’t get sick. But that didn’t happen. I woke up so sick – very sore throat and no voice. We had to cancel our monthly dinner with Cody and Becki – which I’m very sad about because I was looking forward to visiting with them. But we rescheduled for next week. I missed singing in the choir for Ward Conference today too. I’m really ready for this sickness to leave our house. I think JJ is going to have to stay home tomorrow again too. UGH. I ended up getting more design work done today – additions to the new kit and getting ready for the March Challenges/Chats, but I’m still feeling the stress looming around. I really hope I can get it all done.

Joey’s picture today says it all. This sickness is driving us all crazy. Okay, actually this picture is for Lauren. See, Joey can roll his tongue.
