Life 2012 | Haircuts

Before I left for the Blogger Conference in March, the kids and I got haircuts. I rarely do anything to my hair and I just needed a change. I got several inches cut off, some layers, and some highlights. JJ just got a buzz and Beth got a few inches off her hair. We all love our new do’s! Just right for Spring Weather!

Life 365 | Week 15

Monday, April 5, 2010
apr5I was determined to get a lot done this week. It’s Spring Break for the kids and so I decided that there was 2 major goals for the week. 1. Spend lots of time with the kids – with at least 1 special activity a day and 2. Get Spring Cleaning done! Today we cleaned the bedrooms – especially rearranging the kids bedroom. We created a “Terabithia” for them underneath JJ’s bed. It’s a little crawl space that they can go and play under now. For our special activity today, we had a picnic. Unfortunately it was raining really hard outside so we opted to have the picnic inside. Beth and I even dressed up in dresses!

apr6Today we cleaned the bathroom and hallway and for our special activity, we went to Storytime at the Library. It was so fun and interactive. The storyteller told an African story and the kids got to dance and play music! We also picked up a few books and movies to take home for the week!

apr7What an adventurous day! We drove to Sandy and went to the Aquarium. It was our first time and the kids really loved seeing all the fish, penguins, and other aquatic animals! We ate lunch in the cafe at the aquarium too. Then on our way home we went to Pleasant Grove and hiked the Battle Creek Falls. It was a fun little hike (about a mile) to a waterfall. The kids enjoyed it but we were so tired when we got home. We got home just in time for my Over the Hump crop! What a day!

apr8Since I didn’t do any cleaning yesterday – I had a lot to do today. I cleaned the living room and kitchen. The kids drew pictures and cutout shapes and did lots of artistic stuff today!

Friday, April 9, 2010
apr9Today we cleaned out the shed and got it all organized. It was a mess and you could barely get through the door – but now everything is stacked neatly! It was quite a project, but so glad to get it done. We donated some stuff to the DI and got rid of lots of stuff we didn’t need! We also cleaned off the porch and yard. Then we got to decorate and prepare for Beth’s Birthday Party tomorrow!

apr10A wonderful day for a tea party! The weather was so great and Beth had 4 little Princess friends come and join us. We had sandwiches, fruit, crackers, pretzels, cheese, mini-muffins, cream puffs and Strawberry Lemonade for our tea party. The girls even got to use a new [plastic] tea set that we got for Beth. They loved being able to pour their own lemonade! We also played Pin the tail on the Unicorn, a Princess Quest (Maleficient had stolen their treat bags so the Princesses left clues for them to find it), they decorated their own crowns, decorated cupcakes [in ice cream cones] and they danced and played games to a Disney Princess Party DVD. I was so happy that they all had a great time! For their treat bags, they each got some Princess bubbles, stamps, suckers, stickers with a crown frame to decorate at home, and I had my Princess DollZ from my Happily Ever AfterZ Collection printed and I cut them out so that each girl would have a set of Paper Dolls! Beth received a Princess Aurora Bathing Beauty Doll (from Baylee), Princess Tiana Doll (from Abby) , a Littlest Petshop Deco Puppy (from Shay), and a balloon, ring pops, birthday pin, doll, and fan (from Annie).

Joey and JJ went and got haircuts, had lunch and ice cream, and watched movies at Joey’s office while we were having the tea party. Afterwards they came home and Joey and Beth went shopping for a gift for me (our new birthday tradition). They gave me 2 books to read – so excited! The rest of the day we just relaxed at home. A great day!

apr11After church today we had lunch and naps and then we went over to Cody and Becki’s for dinner. It was so nice to visit and get to hold Mallory. She’s so cute and its so fun to see her amazing smile! Beth also got to open her presents tonight. She got some princesses with horses and the Princess and the Frog DVD from Joey and I, a Cinderella Puzzle from JJ, and Princess Stories DVD and a horse playset from Grandpa and Grandma Sorensen. Beth was so delighted by all of her fun gifts this year! Her very favorite was the horses from Grandpa and Grandma!

And here is my weekly layout:
week15I used my Happily Ever AfterZ, Resolution BearZ & Digital 365 to create this layout!

Project 365 | Week 23

Lately, the kids have been taking showers instead of baths. It is just faster and usually by that time at night, I just want to get them in bed. But they really do love to play in the bathtub. They will beg to stay in “just a few more minutes.” And they love to see how wrinkly their hands get. They think it is just so cool how they get wrinkly hands and then it goes away!

I love the Rain. I love cloudy days. I love the coolness of the air and the feeling of just wanting to be home and relaxing. Today was one of those days. The kids and I spent some time outside in the rain and we took some fun photos. The kids loved hearing the thunder and it was just fun. I had always wanted to take a photo with rain against the window – but my point-and-shoot camera would never take a good one – I was excited to play with my DSLR today and get some fun shots!

I LOVE cheese fries and The Training Table has the best cheese fries with their awesome fry sauce (Hickory sauce and mayo). I was craving it today so since Joey got home early from work we went out to eat. YUMMY!

It was time for summer haircuts! JJ had been needing one for a long time, but I just never got it done. But today we used a coupon and went and got it done. Beth got a couple inches off her hair too and I think they look really great!

We are leaving today to head down south. Laundry, Cleaning, and Packing has filled my day! This little trip happens every year in the first part of June. We go out to the Arizona Strip to help my Dad (Grandpa) move the cows to Sink Valley (or ranch). I have always loved this time of year. It’s a time of hard work, but laughter and being with the family. It’s a “time out” from the world. No electricity, no internet access, no tv…..a time of unplugging and just being together as a family for a whole week. I’m kind of having a hard time going this year – but, I think it’s just because Joey isn’t able to come with us. He is taking us down today, but has to come right back and work and then he will pick us up next weekend. Hopefully he will be able to come with us next year…

We stayed at my parent’s last night. Joey drove us to Orderville and then turned around and drove right back to Orem. He stopped and slept a little while but made it in the wee hours of the morning. He had a podcast to do this morning. The kids slept pretty good but woke early. They were so excited to be going out to Bull Rush. We helped Grandma run errands and pick up some things that she had forgotten to take. Everyone else was already out there. We waited for my brother, Clint to arrive from his scout campout so that he could come with us. Finally by late afternoon we were on our way – the kids could hardly stand it any longer. We got almost to the Bull Rush house and we met Grandpa with the Peterbilt, full of cows. The kids and I hopped aboard and made the trip with him to Sink Valley (our ranch). This was the 2nd of 6 loads to make. We got the cows out of the trailer and up the lane. The kids enjoyed riding the Gator to close the gate after the cows went through. Grandpa had to gas up so the kids played around the house for a bit and then we headed back. The kids loved riding in the big truck’s sleeper. We made it back to Bull Rush in time for Dutch Oven Potatoes for dinner.

The Peterbilt had some problems and Grandpa had to run back into town for some parts. So we got to hike around some canyons and visit with family! The best part of this annual trip for us is that the kids get to be with their cousins! Beth loves to be with Whitnee and they played pretty well together even though Whitnee is a couple of years older. And JJ just adores Austin. He is so good with the kids and takes really good care of JJ! Aunt Kori and I got to visit and take lots of pictures with our Nikon D40s. It was fun to share tips and just talk. After we hiked for awhile, we headed back to the house, where we just did NOTHING for the rest of the day!
