The Nourished Creative Collective

So once upon a time I had a graphic design business and LOVED it. I did all kinds of things, but mostly for the digital scrapbook industry/community. I was very involved and I blogged very frequently and I was just so excited about that part of my life.

But as life continued (as it frequently does), change occurred and the digital scrapbook industry waned and I didn’t know what direction to go. I had some personal emotional struggles come through as well. I got overwhelmed and burned out and I began letting my blog/design go. I did do more local freelance work, (mostly in my church and mostly FREE work) and felt the “fun” and “love” of design go away. I found a little enjoyment here and there, but it was a struggle.

And then I “woke up” and realized what I wanted for my life. I began getting involved in some mind and body healing (still working on that) and made some goals. Some of that included finding the JOY in designing again. I have many steps to take, but I am learning and growing and am excited about my potential. So it may be a bit slowly coming, but I’m BACK. I’m ready to jump in and make some progress in my design business.

One of the things that is going to get me to that “happily ever after” is joining an amazing group to help me grow and learn and heal and produce and make progress!

If you love the process of CREATING – no matter what line of work/hobby you are in, but are maybe stuck in how to progress or just need some connection with people who are working towards growing and learning like you. I have an amazing community for you. I just joined myself, but I am so excited about all that it offers. It is a bit of an investment – but your business – YOU – deserve it. I deserve it and I have chosen to invest in it for me and my business. We all need connection in our lives and to find people who you can connect and grow with is amazing.

Jolly Holiday Surprise Adventure | Cover

For the last month or so, I have been on an interesting journey of discovery about myself. I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety for several years and it has zapped all the creativity out of me. But I have found myself wanting to dig myself out of this hole that I have been in and I have been actually having fun creatively again and that is an amazing breakthrough.  I have discovered that I get burned out when I try to do just one kind of creative thing.  But if I do a little of blogging, a little scrapbook designing, a little crocheting, a little bit of wood crafts, and a little of graphic design, etc, I find myself being exhilarated by the things that I am creating and it makes all of my other creative projects better. I have been dabbing it a lot of different things lately and I am finding success and JOY again and it is making my life so much happier.  I’m so excited about transferring my blog over to WordPress and I’m excited about reformatting my posts and making everything so much more organized and better. I’m excited to blog again. I’m excited to design again. And I’m excited to SCRAPBOOK AGAIN! I have been making plans and getting organized and I have a lot to do and a long ways to go on my blog redesign, but I’m working on it and I’m excited about how its going.

One of the plans, is that Thursdays are my actual day to scrapbook pages. I’m so excited to finally be scrapbooking my family’s Disneyland 2014 trip. I haven’t actually scrapbooked in a long time and it feels really good. This trip was truly amazing and the highlight of our family adventures.  So today, I only scrapbooked the cover of this album, but I love it already. It’s so good to re-live this great moment in my family and to HAVE FUN creatively again!

Tuesday Thoughts

Today, in my daily scripture study session, I came across a quote that just really struck home with me:

“Let us be of good cheer as we go about our lives. Although we live in increasingly perilous times, the Lord loves us and is mindful of us. He is always on our side as we do what is right. He will help us in time of need. Difficulties come into our lives, problems we do not anticipate and which we would never choose. None of us is immune. Our lives can also be filled with joy as we follow the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

The concept of being happy – finding joy in the journey, is not new, but I find myself needing this reminder constantly. As I sit here in front of my computer, with a beautiful morning breeze coming through the open sliding door, I am feeling that joy. I don’t often feel it – like I said, I need the “be of good cheer” reminder often – but I’m feeling it today and that’s enough. It’s enough to make me want the best today that I can make it. My house is fairly clean, I’m working through the laundry, I’m ready to turn on my audiobook and get the dishes done. I’m ready to delight in my children when they get home from school – maybe take a break from chores and do a puzzle or something. I’m ready to get some more design time in. I’m ready to go take a walk in the beautiful morning air and just maybe I’m ready to do something a little courageous. There is something that has been on my mind (a lot) for me to get done and I haven’t been brave enough to do it yet – but maybe today is the day.

Now, if I could just find joy in my daily work-out, that would be something. But that is one thing that I’m dreading. Maybe I’ll substitute a walk instead……
