Life 365 | Week 48

nov22
We made our countdown to Christmas paper chains today. I was going to wait until next week, but the kids were anxious to do something – so we did it! They were excited to hang them up in their rooms!

nov23
I made navajo tacos for the first time tonight. I think it went over really well!

So the kids didn’t have to go to school today and so they were watching some tv this morning while I was in my room. I suddenly heard the distinct sound that JJ makes when he has a seizure. I ran in and Beth was freaking out. So we waited out the seizure and got Beth calmed down. I was so relieved when he stopped seizing. I hadn’t even realized he had a fever – I knew he was coughing a bit, but had no idea he was as sick as he was. We took him to the doctor and found out he had walking pneumonia but that with some antibiotics he would be fine. JJ slept most of the day and already doing so much better after the first dose of antibiotics.

Because of JJ being sick yesterday I didn’t get packed until this morning and we didn’t leave for Orderville until late afternoon. We had a nice drive and such pretty scenery on our way down though. It was nice to finally get to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.

What a wonderful day. We had a great Thanksgiving dinner in the barn with all of my family – except for Charity and her kids. And then in the evening, was JJ’s baptism. I was so happy with how it turned out. There are so many times where I don’t know what is going on in JJ’s head or how much he is taking in – but tonight, I know he felt the spirit. He was so calm and happy and it just was so great to see him come up from the water with a smile on his face. I was so glad all the family could be there. Both Grandmas gave such wonderful talks and the Grandpas were the witnesses. Cousin Austin played the piano for us and there was just such a wonderful spirit there. I’m so thankful for JJ and for the gospel in our lives. Afterwards, we had our Thanksgiving pie and other desserts and all the men/boys played basketball in their church outfits! It was fun to go over to Kori’s house afterwards and visit and play games.

JJ and I spent the day with Grandpa and Uncle Clint at Sink Valley. We looked for cows, played in the snow, got some wood for Grandma’s fire, and got some Christmas trees. JJ loved being out there and I did too – even though it was pretty cold. It was a fun day, spent with just my buddy. Dad and Beth spent time with the rest of the family at home. Joey helped Grandma with some computer stuff and Beth got to play all day with Whitnee.

We decided not to return home today. The weather was pretty awful, so we just spent another day, playing at Grandma’s house and visiting. It was nice just to be with the family.

Family History TuesdayZ | Hot and Cold

Journal Prompt: Write about the hottest and/or coldest you have ever been.

Journal Prompt: Write about the hottest and/or coldest you have ever been.Journal Prompt: Write about the hottest and/or coldest you have ever been.

Family History TuesdayZEach Tuesday, I am going to be offering prompts or ideas. If you don’t write in your journal regularly – I am going to encourage you to write just ONCE A WEEK and answer the question/idea that I give on Tuesdays. These ideas hopefully will spark a memory and you will be able to capture that in what you write/record so that it can be left for your children/grandchildren/family/friends. Give as much detail as you can when answering.

Will you do this for me? Will you do this for your families? You can write it down in a journal, you can type it up on a computer or journaling software, you can take a recorder and talk, you can videotape your answers, you can even scrap a page with the journaling. It doesn’t matter how you do this – it’s just important that you do it. The memories, the dates, the information is the only real thing we can leave to our families when we are gone.

Project 365 | Week 46

nov9It’s getting pretty late in the fall season, but still there is so much beauty to be found. I am loving that there are still trees that have yellow and I’m not even sure what kind of berry/fruit or whatever that this is in the trees – but I loved the contrast of the red with the yellow!

nov10I can feel it. The air is getting colder and there’s snow on the mountains and the contrast of that with the clear blue skies is just breathtaking.

nov11I have a cold and its tough to be a mom when you don’t feel well. But my kids are amazingly helpful and independent when I need them to be. And they made me feel so special when they brought their toys in to play on my bed just so they could be near me while I was resting. Love these special moments!

nov12Even though I have a cold I have been outside quite a bit lately. As I have walked Beth to school this week, I have really marveled about the beauty of the ending of Fall and beginning of Winter. I’m so glad that I live in a place where I get to see all 4 seasons.

Friday, November 13, 2009
nov13It was really cold today, but the kids still wanted to go outside and play in the leaves for a little while and Beth had to run in and bring me outside to take a picture of this rose. I can’t believe there is still a rose blooming in my yard, but it won’t last long!

nov14Today we created what the kids called “a little movie theater” and used my laptop to watch movies while we snuggled up in bed for awhile.

nov15Today was a difficult day. It began at 4:30am when one of our water pipes got lose and filled our bedroom floor with water. After spending a few hours trying to clean it up and everything, Joey and I were so exhausted that we didn’t even make it to church. We had no water all day and of course it would be one of those weeks where I didn’t get the house clean or the dishes done, and we really needed water. At least we had drinking water. We cooked chicken enchiladas and went over to the Casseta’s house to watch the Rivalry of the Century game between the Colts and the Patriots. It was fun to visit with the Casseta’s again since its been awhile since we have been together. And the game was amazing – the Colts came out on top – BARELY and it was a very exciting game! We then came home to our friend (who owns our trailer), yelling at us for not taking care of the house and just lots of stuff that was really hard to take. It was just a horrible end to an emotional day…

Project 365 | Week 41

I think the Crockpot is one of life’s greatest inventions. I really need to use mine more. I stuck some chicken, some pinapple and some teriyaki sauce in the crockpot in the morning and it cooked all day. All I had to do was cook up some rice to go with it and dinner was done for today. Why can’t I remember to do this more – it really made my day so much easier and dinner was so good! Today was my first day without crutches. The ankle is still weak and I am still using the aircast, but at least I am getting around better!

I was able to go to the Relief Society Enrichment tonight and it really felt good to get out of the house. It was craft night and I was able to make these adorable Family Home Evening Dice. One dice included the names of my family members (2 are blank so I can add to them as my family grows) and the other dice included all the components of a Family Home Evening (Lesson, Activity, Song, Prayer, Treat). You roll each dice to see which family member is going to do what thing for FHE. I thought it was a really cute idea. I think we are going to stick with me and Joey doing lessons for awhile, but the kids can do some of the other things for it!

Beth got to go on a field trip for school today. They went over to the fire station and got to talk to the firemen and see inside the fire station, the fire trucks, an ambulance, and even got to sit in an emergency helicopter! The firemen gave them little fire hats and cotton candy! Beth was so excited to get to wear her Center Stage shirt and jacket for the first time too!

Fall is in the air and its definitely time to start bringing out the jackets. It was pretty cold this morning and JJ got all snuggled up in his new jacket as we waited for his school bus!

Friday, October 9, 2009

Beth’s little tradition after school is to have lunch (pretty much always a ham and cheese sandwich) and get to eat while watching a couple of her shows. But she is so funny because I think her favorite thing to watch is COMMERCIALS. Joey thinks maybe she is going to go into advertising or something because she just gets a kick out of commercials and doesn’t like when we fast forward through them (thank goodness for TiVo). Silly girl!

Joey spent the whole day in Salt Lake City in some meetings so we just had a casual day at home. The kids played all day and I spend most of the day on my laptop doing the part of designing that I don’t particularly like – the advertising and loading new products into my stores. It’s time consuming and it took all day but I finally got it all caught up.

Sunday, October 11, 2009
oct11
The Colts played the Sunday Night Game and it was fun to see them win and do such a good job. I really love being able to watch football with Joey and even though we watch football really different – I’m the vocal one and Joey is very quiet – it’s still a wonderful thing we get to do together!
