Choose Happiness

success

I tend to be extremely naive about the world and actually I like it that way. I don’t get caught up in politics or much of what is going on in the world around me. I like to live in this little world that I have created for myself that revolves around my own family and friends. I like to focus on the things in MY life.

It’s not always a good thing. I do feel it is important to take a stand for the things that you believe in and really I should be more proactive about building the future. I do feel that it is so important to vote and to take responsibility for the world – but most of the time, I just like to leave that to my husband or others who are much more political than I am. I do vote and try to figure out what I believe and do my best to live it. It’s not really a good part of myself, but I personally feel so much happier when I can just focus on what is happening in my own house and trying to teach my children and being the best that I can be.

There is so much conflict right now in my country and that saddens me. I want there just to be peace and unity and everyone to come together and make the best of our situation and just try to do a little better everyday. I hope and pray that President-Elect Trump will surround himself with good people and that things can be better. I hope we all can choose happiness. I hope we all can choose to encourage and love and be kind. We don’t have to agree with others, but we can still be kind. We can stand up for what we believe in, but not do it in such a way as to hurt others. We need to do just our best to become better as individuals and as families and to live our lives the best we can and the way we believe is right, without forcing others to live the same way we do. One of the great things about our country is that we have amazing Freedoms. We can share our beliefs and we can live them and that is all we need to do to make America a better place. Focus on ourselves and our families and pray to our Heavenly Father and leave it to him to protect and bless us.

“My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer.

The future is as bright as your faith.”

– President Thomas S. Monson –

Wednesday SayingZ | True Happiness

{ This week’s quote }
True happiness comes only by making others happy—the practical application of the Savior’s doctrine of losing one’s life to gain it. In short, the Christmas spirit is the Christ spirit, that makes our hearts glow in brotherly love and friendship and prompts us to kind deeds of service.
– David O. McKay –

Wednesday SayingZI am a collector of quotes/sayings/titles and I am excited to share them with you each Wednesday. I hope they will inspire you and make your day a little better! I am also creating pieces of wordart with these quotes and will be offering them to you as a freebie! Feel free to use them in your scrapbooks or just print them out for wall decor!

Wednesday SayingZ | Happiness is like a Butterfly…

{ This week’s quote }
Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.
– Nathaniel Hawthorne –

Family History TuesdayZ | Happiness

Journal Prompt: What is the one thing in your life that makes you happiest?

Journal Prompt: What is the one thing in your life that makes you happiest?Journal Prompt: What is the one thing in your life that makes you happiest?

Family History TuesdayZEach Tuesday, I am going to be offering prompts or ideas. If you don’t write in your journal regularly – I am going to encourage you to write just ONCE A WEEK and answer the question/idea that I give on Tuesdays. These ideas hopefully will spark a memory and you will be able to capture that in what you write/record so that it can be left for your children/grandchildren/family/friends. Give as much detail as you can when answering.

Will you do this for me? Will you do this for your families? You can write it down in a journal, you can type it up on a computer or journaling software, you can take a recorder and talk, you can videotape your answers, you can even scrap a page with the journaling. It doesn’t matter how you do this – it’s just important that you do it. The memories, the dates, the information is the only real thing we can leave to our families when we are gone.

Life 365 | Week 12

Monday, March 15, 2010
mar15I spent the day lounging in my motel room with take-out food, hot shower, a book, and my computer. I did a lot of thinking, resting and playing. It was wonderful. Meanwhile, Joey and the kids got to go to a play based off the children’s book, “If you give a Mouse a Cookie.” The kids LOVED it. They also went to school and then enjoyed an evening with Joey. I’m so grateful for such a great family!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010
mar16I came home at 5am. I was ready to be with my family. It was a busy day with laundry and cleaning up the house from being away.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010
mar17Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I discovered last night that I didn’t have anything Green for Beth to wear. The only thing we had was a yellow stripe shirt that did have some green in it. So we went with yellow-green and I made Beth a green bead necklace and beads for her hair. She was so excited to be so decked out for school! JJ and Beth had a great time at their fun St. Paddy day activities. I spent the day busily trying to get some things done – like getting my van inspected (didn’t pass) and trying to find a side marker lense for an old van. Hopefully we can figure something out. Joey was able to work from home today because his foot was hurting pretty badly. It was nice to have him around!

Thursday, March 18, 2010
mar18Beth has been on a puzzle streak lately and we only had 1 puzzle in the house. So today we took a trip to the store and found some puzzles. A big horse one and a Disney puzzle collection that had 8 puzzles in it. JJ, Beth and I spent hours today on doing this 550 piece puzzle. The kids went to bed and it still wasn’t done, so Joey and I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning getting it finished. Silly us – but it was worth it in the morning to see how excited Beth was!

Friday, March 19, 2010
mar19Joey came home a little early today and treated us to ice cream at a fairly new shop here in Orem! It was a lot of fun – it was self-serve and you could get your choice of flavor(s) of yogurt/ice cream and they had all these bins of toppings that you just could add whatever and you paid by the weight. Yummy! Afterwards, Joey went to do his podcast and the kids and I had a quiet night at home.

Saturday, March 20, 2010
mar20JJ and Joey spent the day finishing up their Pinewood Derby Car. They had to get it weighed and handed in tonight and so they had to get it done. I think it turned out great. JJ was so excited to get to help. Beth did some puzzles and played while I worked on my computer for most of the day. We went out to eat at Training Table for dinner and it was really great not to have to cook!

Sunday, March 21, 2010
mar21After church and naps, we decided to go to Chuck-a-Rama for dinner – they have lots of great comfort foods on Sundays so it was nice. We came home and since it was already almost bedtime we needed something kind of short for Family Movie Night. We decided to watch a part of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, since we are reading it. We watched up to when the kids meet the Beavers – since that is where we are in the book right now. I think it really helped the kids to comprehend the book better.

And here is my weekly layout:
week12I used my Practically Perfect & Digital 365 to create this layout!
