Life 365 | Week 8

Monday, February 15, 2010
feb15We did some deep cleaning of the house today. It was such good weather – it almost felt like Spring. It really felt great and after being sick all last week, it felt good to get the house all clean and sterilized and aired out.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010
feb16Grandpa and Grandma Sorensen and Uncle Lane and Uncle Clint arrived today to spend a couple of days. It was great to get to visit with them. We got some KFC take-out, played some Wii and just visited.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010
feb17A busy day today. Grandpa and Grandma and Lane went to to Salt Lake City to do some shopping, take care of some business, and a special banquet for Lane. Clint got to hang-out with us all day. We took Beth to school and Clint got to play some more Wii. We then picked up JJ and Beth and took them to the dentist. Later JJ had Cub Scouts and we got some pizza while Grandpa and Grandma went to dinner with Max and Janice. I also had my Wednesday night crop.

Thursday, February 18, 2010
feb18Grandpa and Grandma and Lane and Clint left for home today. It was so nice to have them here. Beth and I did a project today for her school. Tomorrow is Beth’s 100 Days of School and they were asked to create something with 100 things. We decided to make a beautiful bead necklace with Beth’s favorite colors – purple, pink, and red. It turned out great. Joey came home from work feeling really awful and barely able to walk – another gout flare-up. Later coming up the hall to the bedroom, he gave me a scare by passing out. But he came to – pretty quickly and we got him to bed. It was a pretty awful night.

Friday, February 19, 2010
feb19Joey worked from home today. It was a real awful night and his ankle is so swollen and it is hurting him a lot. We took him to the doctor and now it might not be gout. They aren’t sure what it is. They took some fluid out of his ankle and there was lots of blood, so it is pretty scary and it was so painful. But after getting all that out of his foot – he feels a lot better. We will have to wait for the fluid to get tested before we will get answers on what it could be. But he felt better so he was able to go do his podcast tonight. We also got to babysit Kalissa all day. She is very cute and it was fun to have a baby in the house. After school, Beth enjoyed getting to play with her and feed her! She was a great little helper!

Saturday, February 20, 2010
feb20The kids like to put on “shows” for Joey and I. They are so funny. They spend tons of time getting everything ready and then when they start the show they get so nervous. Today’s show was JJ’s magic tricks (where he pretends to make cards disappear) and Beth’s Storytelling from her books. They were cute at the end where they took hands and gave a bow! I spent the morning and early afternoon at the Stake Center for a Women’s Conference where we had a luncheon and some classes. The women in our ward choir sang a song at the opening session and it was really nice to be able to participate in that.

Sunday, February 21, 2010
feb21Joey’s foot is still hurting pretty badly, so he wasn’t able to go to church with us today. I had to sing in Sacrament meeting so I left the kids home with Joey – went and sang and then came and got the kids for Primary. Later, the kids looked so cute cuddling up to their dad today for our family movie.

And here is my weekly layout:

Grandpa and Grandma left today and the kids were very sad to see them leave. We’ll have to plan a trip to go down to see them soon. Since today was a holiday, Joey didn’t have to go to work. So we just hung out at home the rest of the day. For Family Home Evening, we got out the Disney Scene-It Game that Lane gave us and we had a blast playing it.

It’s been snowing for the last couple of days and so it’s really been nice to just hang out at home. But this is what our driveway looks like now – Grandpa finally got our van fixed and they brought it back to us when they were here this last weekend! It is so AWESOME to have both vehicles now. I don’t have to get up early and get Joey to work when I need the car. Love it! Thanks Grandpa for all your work!

We got out the play dough and cookie cutters after school today and the kids had a blast! It kept them occupied for a couple of hours!

We got to babysit Mallory again today. She is just adorable and I’m so glad for the opportunity to get to be with her and to help out Cody and Becki. Beth loves to just hold her!

I finally broke down and got us a waffle maker. Joey and I are more pancake eaters, so I just never thought about getting a waffle maker, but Beth loves waffles. So I finally got one and we had waffles tonight. Beth was so delighted!

We went to Salt Lake City today and spent time with Brandon and Sabrina. It was Brandon’s 30th birthday and so we played some Wii, ate pizza, and visited before they headed off to a hockey game. They sent us home with lots of this yummy cake from Costco! So good!

Today was a really great day! The Colts won the AFC Championship and it was a great game! Joey and I totally watch football differently- I am pretty vocal – Joey is very quiet. But this small smile of Joeys at the end of the game said it all! We are going to the Super Bowl! Go Colts!

Project 365 | Week 37

sep7We celebrated Labor Day by just staying home and hanging out together as a family. We did have a picnic on our lawn too. The kids hung out with Dad while I did some designing.

Our day consisted of school for JJ, chores, and playing (spinning/dancing) outside!

What a day! Our van’s head gasket blew last night and so we had to figure things out. Joey took the day off work and we got JJ on the bus. We were going to walk Beth to her FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL and then Joey was going to ride the bus/trax up to Salt Lake City to get Pete’s car. He generously offered to let us borrow it until we get the van fixed. We were on the phone a lot last night trying to figure out a way to get our van to my Dad (5 hours away) so he could fix it for us – as we are really short on money right now. So we were already stressed and then JJ’s school called and told us that we needed to come and get him because he was sick. And of course I needed to start walking to get Beth to school. So Beth and I walked to her school and Joey got a ride with a friend to go get JJ. I walked the mile to Beth’s school, dropped her off and then walked the mile back home and just beat JJ and Joey home by about 10 minutes. JJ was crying and stressed because he had to come home from school. He had a cough and was sniffly. Joey finally got on the bus to head up to get Pete’s car and JJ and I had to walk to go get Beth from school. Joey got the car and barely got back home before we had to get Uncle Aaron to come babysit for us so we could go on our date night that we had planned for a couple of weeks. So we got the kids settled and headed out to go back to Salt Lake City for dinner and movie (Nine) with Curtis and Anne, Jared and Bryn, and Pete and his date, Suzanne. We had a great night and I’m glad that the day ended well after all the stress!

JJ stayed home from school and the kids played all day. I was very amused with their creativity. One of JJ’s favorite movies right now is BACK TO THE FUTURE and he was using Woody as his “Marty” and a shoe as his time machine! Love it!

JJ’s school has a new policy where even just a little cold has to be checked out before the student returns to school (mostly because of the swine flu scare) and since Beth was sick a bit too today, we got an appointment with the doctor. It was just colds for both of them.

Our stake is starting volleyball on Thursday nights so I was so excited to be able to do that. I went and played for 3 hours – and I’m so sore, but it was a lot of fun. With this once a week and walking 4 miles, three times a week – I think I’m actually going to get in shape!

JJ stayed home again and we had to walk Beth to school. On our return home, I found a box on my porch and inside was an amazing surprise. My dear friend, Georgia sent me a Fairy Bear. It was so cute and lifted my spirits immensely! Thank you, Georgia.

I continued my goal to make cookies on Fridays. This time, I made no-bake cookies, but unfortunately, I failed. I couldn’t get the cookies to set up – they tasted good, but it was pretty much like eating dough – got to figure that one out!

I had the opportunity to spend the day at the ScrapbookUSA Expo. Even though I’m totally a Digital gal now – it was fun to walk around the booths and see all the fun scrapbooking supplies there are now. I met up with Sabrina and her cute daughter, Kalissa for awhile too and it was good to visit with her. I mostly sat at a table and tried to catch up with my Project 365 layouts. I’ve kept up with the photos and journaling on my blog but have really gotten behind on the weekly layouts. I was able to catch up on 4 weeks worth and though I was hoping for more – at least I got going on it. It was funny to sit at the tables and be one of the only ones with a laptop – I did see one other lady with a laptop, but not sure if she was scrapping. All around me was lots of traditional scrappers, but I did have one lady come up to me and watch for awhile. She had just gotten Photoshop Elements and was wanting to start digital scrapbooking – very cool!

JJ has spread the cold to all of us now – Joey and I woke up with sore throats and the kids are still sniffly. So we stayed home from church today. The kids seem to be on the mend so I think I will send them to school tomorrow – but I thought we would give them one more day at home. JJ loves using Dad’s computer to watch his Spiderman and so he got to do that for a little while today, while Dad watched his football. The Colts had their first game of the season today – they won, BARELY – but we’ll take it!

When I design, I almost always have some movie/tv show going on corner of my screen. I can’t seem to design without it. I never watched the tv show, ER while it was going on, but lately I have been consumed by it. This week I started the 8th season – I’m sad now that all the characters seem to be changing – the old ones moving on (my favorites 🙂 – but I am still enjoying it.

Beth is a morning person. I am not sure where she gets it – because I am definitely NOT. She is usually the first one up and she wakes her brother up and eventually her parents drag into the kitchen. This is how I found her this morning. All decked out, with the dress over her pajamas – her crown and sun glasses on and with her play phone – all ready to go for the day. My little Super Star!

Dad brought home a yummy blue slushie to share for dessert! The kids loved it and there’s nothing like blue tongues in summer!

The kids were playing outside and I was doing some work in the house. Suddenly I heard some terrifying screaming from Beth. She hopped in the house, wailing and holding her foot.

“Mooommmmm, a bee was on my foooooot, and and and I told it to go away, but instead it bited meeeeeee.”

Yep, Beth got her first (and hopefully last) bee sting. We treated it and I had to hold her for the rest of the day! Poor girl.

We had lunch with Dad at McDonalds today! It was fun to see Dad outside of work on a weekday! 🙂 The kids came home with some adorable little critters from their happy meals and for the rest of the day they played with all of their stuffed animals!

A few months ago I had a promotion on my blog HERE. It is kind of a crafty Pay-it-forward kind of thing and I had saw it on my friend, Brianne’s blog and loved the idea, so I signed up! Well today, I received a great surprise in the mail – an amazing stitched wall hanging for me! It’s beautiful Brianne – thank you so much! I immediately hung it on my living room wall.

I AM working on my little projects for the 5 people that signed up on my blog – so hopefully they will be done soon!

I stayed up all night working on a kit. We went to church and then when we came home, I just crashed for about 3 hours. It was our monthly dinner with my brother and his wife and it was my turn to cook, but unfortunately, a construction crew broke the water main and we had no water. So I made up some chicken salad sandwiches, Snicker salad, and some fruit and we went over to Cody and Becki’s house to eat. It turned out really great for a summer dinner – no cooking to heat up the house! It is always nice to visit with them! I caught this photo of the sun on our way home – it was very beautiful and was the perfect way to end our Sunday!

Project 365 | Week 26

jun22

What a crazy week! I have a kit that I am working on that just never seems to be done no matter how long I spend on it. I’m trying so hard to finish it by next Monday and it is taking me every minute I have. I think I’m in for a lot of late nights this week!

I went outside to check on the kids this afternoon and I found them in the midst of a new game. Beth gets in the wagon (tipped sideways) and JJ runs around in a circle spinning her – They were both laughing so hard and having such a great time that I just didn’t have the heart to stop them – even though it is not the safest of activities!

Tuesday, June 23, 2009
jun23

Our summer schedule is CRAZY! We are up earlier than when the kids were in school and with me staying up longer to finish some design work – I am really hating the early mornings. But JJ’s summer school is just earlier so we have been doing it. I went in the kids room today because they were playing and I hadn’t heard a peep from them and here they were just completely zonked out. I think the early mornings are getting to them too – they hardly ever take naps!

The kids have a new way to eat their Spaghetti. Last night they thought it was so funny that I took my garlic bread and put spaghetti in it. Tonight when we had Spaghetti for leftovers, they just had to try it too. The “Spaghetti Sandwiches” are a hit!

Thursday, June 25, 2009
jun25

This dinner is one of the best rated in my kids’ opinion. While some nights it is a struggle to get the kids to eat – whenever I make this the kids go back for 3-4 servings! Deli Ham Slices on the bottom, Creamy Mashed potatoes topped with Cheese – baked in the oven for 20 minutes! EASY AND YUMMY!

Friday, June 26, 2009
jun26

The kids goofed around all day. JJ got out his LeapYear Alphabet and played that all day with Beth spinning in one of her dress-up gowns!

We were able to attend a BBQ at a friend’s house tonight. Their backyard was right by the West Valley Fair going on and we visited and had great food. We had also had AMAZING views of a gorgeous sunset and the fireworks!

We carried on our Sunday tradition of watching a movie together. The kids snuggled with their Unicorn/Horses and we watched THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER!
