The kids really love playing on the computer. I guess it totally makes sense – Joey and I are always on our computers. JJ hadn’t played on StarFall at home for awhile, so the kids got to play for awhile.

I had seen this idea on several of the blogs I read. You take all the snacks for your kids for the day and you put them in the slots of a muffin tin. And then when the kids want a snack they go to their tin. I need to get new muffin tins for them, but they LOVED this idea. I think I will get some new ones for them and maybe decorate them or something. What a fun thing and I think this will be perfect this summer!

I was able to go to another wonderful Scrap Girls Luncheon today. I really love these excursions. They totally rejuvenate me. Beth got to come with me today and she was so good! It was kind of bitter-sweet though as Anna is moving to Texas and she won’t be able to come to our luncheons anymore. It was really good to visit with her and I hope things go so well for her! We’ll miss her!

I gave the kids some goldfish crackers and sent them outside to play. A little while later, JJ came in and said, “Mom, I shared my goldfish with some ants, is that ok?” and then “The ants were looking for food so I crumbled up the goldfish for them.”

Last night, my parents and my brother, Lane arrived. We haven’t had them come and stay with us in about a year, so it was a real treat. I can’t believe my little brother is 16 and so involved in everything. My parents came because Lane got to go to a leadership conference (HOBY) up here in Aspen Grove for the rest of the week. So they took him there this morning and then they hung out with me and Beth for the rest of the day. We did some errands while Beth was at school and then Joey took a half day off to watch the kits, while I, my parents, and Cody & Becki got to go do a session in the new Draper Temple. We went out to dinner at Sizzlers after and it was really fun to visit and be together.

Beth has been so excited to have her Grandma here. She really misses not living right next door to her Grandparents. Grandpa took a day-trip to Wyoming today on his friend Max’s truck, Joey was at work, JJ was at school, and so after Grandma went to her Aunt’s Funeral (Margaret Mathews), we had her all to ourselves. We hung out at home and did a few errands.

We spent some time at the playground today. It’s so fun to see my kids enjoy themselves and to see them interact with each other. Beth’s favorite thing is the swings and she is constantly saying, “Push me, high to the sky!” JJ loves the slides the best and he loves to have you watch him play!

After church today, we were able to have lunch with my parents and brother. It’s been awhile since I spent Mother’s Day actually with my Mom. It has been so fun to have them staying here this week. My mom is an amazing woman who always gives her all to everything she does. She’s a great example of faith and service. One of the most amazing things about my mom is that no matter what calling she has in the church – she truly goes above and beyond for it. As a Young Woman leader, as a Sunday School Teacher, as a Primary music leader, etc….she is always prepared and willing to do anything and everything for those she teaches. It’s really amazing to me. My mom has always supported me in whatever I wanted to do and I am so grateful to her for bringing me up in the church and for always being there for me. THANK YOU MOM and Happy Mother’s Day!

Project 365 | Week 6

JJ didn’t have a school – teacher development day – so we just hung out at home. The kids were feeling better today and they were really feeling a bit shut-in, so we decided to go for a walk. We got the mail and just went on a short walk around the trailer park. We spent most of the day watching movies, cleaning up, and making hearts.

I felt pretty awful today. Thank goodness that Joey was able to take Beth to and from school for me. When Beth got back, we hung out on my bed playing ponies and watching The Swan Princess so I could get a little more rest. When JJ got home, we hung out with Cody and Becki for awhile, since Cody needed my computer for a school project.

Bedtime came and I put the kids to bed. Later I went in to check on them and there was JJ, once again resisting sleep. He had his head where his feet should be and of course was kicking with his legs – trying to stay awake. He gets so tired, but he is like his Dad in that he hates to go to sleep.

JJ came home from school today with a yellow post-it note from his teacher! He had a great day! And he was so excited to tell me the things he did at school. He usually doesn’t tell us much about his day, so this was really neat. He had made some things at school that he couldn’t wait for us to see tomorrow. He remembered what he had for lunch – corn dogs. And most of all he was really happy. I love days like this!

Today was an exciting day! We got to go to school lunch with JJ, even Dad was able to come. And it was PIZZA DAY, so that made lunch extra special. After lunch we met with JJ’s teacher, Mrs. Rains and got to hear how much JJ is improving. We learned more about what JJ is doing at school and we learned that JJ is reading at a Kindergartener level which is amazing! We are so proud of our boy.

Then to top off an already amazing day – shortly after we returned home, a big package arrived. My new camera came a day early! YAY! So for the rest of the day, I played with my new Nikon D40. I’m so excited to finally get a DSLR camera and I can’t wait to learn all that I can do with it!

I love the Scrap Girls Luncheons. It’s such a great time-out from life! We met at Mimi’s Cafe this time and I brought Beth with me. It was really nice to have a little date with my daughter and we had a lot of other Scrap Girls with their kids this time – so it was a lot of fun!

Once again we have another pipe leak. We are getting pretty sick of it. Hopefully we can get it taken care of soon. The kids helped Dad patch it up! It was a pretty lazy Saturday. I didn’t feel to well – so I got to have a long nap, which was good. The kids really played well together and it was a quiet day.

One of my favorite blogs, Bakerella, had a great recipe today that we just had to try. We really like homemade Oreos – and this recipe was even better – we used red velvet cake instead of devil’s food cake! Perfect for Valentine’s Day! We cut out little hearts from the cookies and made bite-sized goodies! SO GOOD!

Project 365 | Week 1

I have decided to start my Project 365 even though it isn’t the 1st yet. I decided that since it is on a weekly basis – that I’d like to start on a Monday, so here is the first 2 days! When I get my DIGITAL 365 Kit finished, I will start using it to put this stuff together, but I’d also like to share each days photo/journaling here on my blog and then finish the week with sharing my week’s 2-page layout with you! Anyways….

We are spending this week trying to organize ourselves. Christmas is over and it was a good one, but it’s time to think about cleaning up the house, organizing, and getting ready for the new year. So many thoughts and plans and trying to get it all put together is a bit overwhelming. Just have to keep telling myself – one step at a time, line upon line, and eventually everything can be the way that I want it to be right now.

Tonight, as I was putting the kids to bed, JJ said he was scared of the dark. So we talked a little while and I told him that anytime he is scared, hurt, or felt alone that he could pray to Heavenly Father and that HE would hear him and help him. JJ seemed to understand and I felt good that I was able to actually get through and teach him something. I then went to Beth’s bed and was tucking her in. She had heard my conversation with JJ and we had this sweet little conversation.

“Mom, do you know what I dreamed last night?”
“What?”
“I dreamed that me and mommy went to see Heavenly Father.”
“Really? Was it a good dream?”
“Yep.”

That’s all that was said, but somehow I went away feeling really good that my little girl would dream about her Heavenly Father and that it was a good place where he is. When I was telling Joey about this conversation he said, “Wow. She told me this morning that she dreamed about the sunshine.” It fits don’t you think?

(Note: Today’s Pictures were taken by JJ! He wanted to use the camera so I let him for the first time!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We took this picture a few hours before the new year. This is our 10th New Year that we have celebrated together. We are not party people. We prefer a quiet evening at home. This year we celebrated by finishing our yearly tradition of watching The Lord of the Rings.

Today was spent just hanging around the house in our PJs. I worked all day on a kit that just isn’t quite done yet – I just can’t seem to finish it no matter how much I want to right now. But I’ll keep trying. So the kids watched movies all day and played while Joey and I spent the day on our computers. At one point, I looked over and saw JJ just intent on what his Dad was working on. They are so much like each other in so many ways and I can see JJ just wanting to be just like his dad!

Thank you so much to all of you who commented on my frustration with this kit getting done. I really appreciate your support! Unfortunately, I think I am just trying to force this – and creativity comes when it comes. Actually at this point, I’m a little scared. Because I think I hyped it up so much and I keep thinking that maybe you all will be very disappointed in it. I’m not sure it will have enough in it – or be what you need/want it to be! I hate it when I do this to myself – but that’s about where I am right now with it. I have about 9 ScatterZ and a few bears to do and then I’m going to package it all up and call it good. I REALLY hope you won’t be disappointed. It is a little different from my usual style – a lot of doodly/swirly kinds of designs in it. It is completely inspired by Becky Higgins’ Project 365. Anyways, I will keep hoping I get it done within the next day or so and hopefully I won’t disappoint you. All I can say is that there will be lots of additions to it – as bonuses to the monthly challenge and so if you have input on what you need/want – I guess you can always suggest at the chat and I can create some of that for bonuses/freebies. On another note – I am going to continue my HIGH/LOW Series, even though I’ll be posting my 1 photo everyday. I will use Friday’s to still say my High/Low for the Week and offer a freebie. Maybe my High/Low will be repeating things from the week and maybe they won’t so I think it will still be good. Love you all! Thanks for reading!

After finally finishing the kit I was working on, I rewarded myself by going to lunch and a matinee with the Scrap Girls. I feel so blessed to be able to hang out with these wonderful
ladies who I have so much in common with. It’s really great to just get out once in a while and visit!

After I got home it was time for the Utes Football Game! Utah vs. Alabama in the Sugar Bowl! It was an amazing game and we won! The Utes were the only college football team in the nation to go undefeated this year, so it was really wonderful!

Our Indianapolis Colts lost today in overtime in the playoffs. A very sad day for us! Watching football is a great tradition in our family. It takes up a lot of our energy and it really hurts when our team loses. Oh well, there’s always next year…

JJ also woke up today with a missing tooth! We don’t know where it is and hopefully he didn’t swallow it. But this is his third tooth in the past month to come out, so he’s getting a little toothless, but very excited about it!

balance
I’ve been reading a lot of blogs that are talking about choosing “a word” for the year. A word that will inspire you to change your life for the better this coming year. Something to strive for and to become. I’ve been thinking about it and I just couldn’t come up with a word until I read of someone else’s word that totally made sense to me. BALANCE. I have been trying to achieve this for many years, but I still have a really rough time with it. Balance between my design work and my family. Balance between the housework, organization, finances, sleep, and all the things that come up. BALANCE. That’s what I want in my life. I want to be able to be a successful wife, mother, and designer and I want there to be a good balance between them all. I’ve tried before and just don’t feel like I succeed. But maybe if I truly make it my word – my goal for the year and actually scrap about it – maybe, it will be more on my thoughts as I go about everyday life and so I can truly become a better balanced person.
